An Athens, Georgia radio host heard about White while visiting Birmingham, and contacted the Mayor's Office to suggest a day honoring the boy. On March 8, 2019 White and his mother and younger brother visited Birmingham City Hall. He was greeted by officials and staff, was showered with gifts, and met with Mayor Randall Woodfin who signed a resolution naming him "Mayor for a Day".
