The Lane Park Pest House was a hospital constructed on public land on Red Mountain near the Southside Cemetery used to treat patients with communicable diseases.

The first hospital wards were constructed in the late 1880s. Many of the patient cots were set up in canvas tents with wood floors.

In 1903 the hospital treated 116 cases of smallpox. In a three-month period in 1913 it treated 500 for the same disease.
