The Lay Lake launching pier is a planned 60-foot long by 100-foot wide T-shaped launching pier being built at Lay Lake by the Alabama Power Company in cooperation with Shelby County and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The $25,000 pier will serve as a launch site for fishing craft replace an existing smaller launch pier at Beeswax Creek. It should be completed in the summer of 2009 and be open well before the 2010 Bassmaster Classic at Lay Lake.
