Legal Services Alabama

Legal Services Alabama (LSA) is a non-profit organization and affiliate of the nationwide Legal Services Corporation. Its mission is to serve low-income persons with legal advice, mediation and civil claims and to work toward reducing poverty in Alabama. The group is headquartered in Montgomery and has offices in the Legal Services Building at 1820 7th Avenue North in Birmingham, as well as in Dothan, Huntsville, Mobile, Selma and Tuscaloosa.

The present organization was created on Febraury 1, 2004 by merging the Legal Services Corporation of Alabama, Legal Services of Metro Birmingham and Legal Services of North-Central Alabama. Former U.S. Congressman Artur Davis succeeded long-time executive director Jimmy Fry in December 2016. Laveeda Battle serves as president of the board of directors. David Webster is the managing attorney of the Birmingham office.

On April 23, 2023, a mural of Fred Shuttlesworth was completed on the east side of LSA's Birmingham building.
