This is a List of homicides in 1951. It includes homicide cases occurring throughout the Birmingham area during the calendar year. Note that not all homicides are ultimately ruled to be murder in courts of law.

Bessemer

  1. April 9: Lum Lamar, known as the "Hog Man", was found beaten and shot to death after eating a rabbit intended for his wife, Minnie. She was arrested, but later released. Lamar's daughter, Betty Helton, and nephew B. B. "Junior" Brasher were later arrested and charged with murder. Lamar's younger son, Billy, was charged in connection with the murder and committed to the Alabama Boy's Industrial School by Judge Talbot Ellis. (1.)
