March 25, 2021 tornado outbreak
The March 25, 2021 tornado outbreak was a tornado outbreak which swept across Alabama on March 25, 2021 and spawned several tornadoes, which caused significant damage, including wide swaths of destruction and at least 6 deaths in northeast Calhoun County.
Many schools and businesses, some already limiting in-person activities during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, closed for all or part of the day. Mass vaccination sites administered by UAB also closed as the storms approached.
One tornado remained on the ground for at least 100 miles from Hale County to Shelby County. The most serious damage to structures occurred in the Eagle Point, Cahaba Valley Estates, and Greystone Farms subdivisions. Oak Mountain State Park experienced significant tree damage.
The Bibb County Airport in Centreville and Centreville Middle School were badly damaged.
A fast-moving tornado which appeared with little warning in eastern Birmingham damaged homes in the South Roebuck and Roebuck Springs neighborhoods and continued through Irondale and Trussville, damaging businesses along U. S. Highway 11 including Jim 'N Nick's BBQ and Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
