Mary Kate Bush (born April 9, 1948 in Birmingham) is a finance consultant and former U.S. official and U.S. Representative to the International Monetary Fund.

Mary Kate is the daughter of Johnny and Augusta Bush, who moved to Birmingham from Uniontown, Perry County. Her father worked at U.S. Steel's Ensley Works and took extra jobs in order to support the family in Titusville. She graduated from Ullman High School in 1964 and the completed a bachelor of arts, magna cum laude, in economics and political science from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1969. She then completed a master's degree in finance at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business in 1971.

Bush joined Chase Manhattan Bank in New York as a credit analyst in 1971, then left to take a position as account manager for Citibank in 1973. In 1976 she was hired as a vice president and team leader for the Bankers Trust Company of New York City. She began her public career when she was hired as executive assistant to the deputy secretary of the U.S. Treasury in 1982. President Ronald Reagan appointed her as United States alternate executive director of the International Monetary Fund in 1984.

In 1988 Bush joined the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) as vice president of international finance. She was promoted to managing director of the Federal Home Loan Bank System's Federal Housing Finance Board in 1989. In 1991 she left to found a global consultancy, "Bush International LLC". Through that firm she has advised the governments of Bulgaria, South Korea, the Philippines, and Singapore.

From 1994 to 1997 Bush hosted a program called "Markets and Technology" on the National Empowerment Television network. In 2006 President George W. Bush appointer her to chair the "Helping to Enhance the Livelihood of People around the Globe (HELP) Commission".

Bush has served on the boards of the Investment Company Institute, the Independent Directors Council, and Capital Partners for Education, as well as those of Bloom Energy, Discover Financial Services, Pioneer Family of Mutual Funds, Mantech International Corp., the T. Rowe Price Group, and Marriott International. She is a member of the advisory boards of Stern Stewart International, the Global Leadership Foundation, and the Kennedy Center Community and Friends.
