Mason-Dixon City was a proposed town to be built on 4,000 acres along U.S. Highway 11 north of Trussville and south of Camp Mary Munger Road. The Birmingham Development Company acquired the property and constructed a land office. The Alabama Motion Picture Company, headed by Edward Peter, planned a 300-acre "movie colony" as a site for professional film productions.

The Great Depression ended those plans and the land office building was converted into Fred & Jean's Tavern.
