Merritt House was a restaurant located in the former William Merritt residence at 2220 Highland Avenue on the corner of 11th Court South in Southside.
The restaurant, formerly known as The Pillars, was owned by Pete Gerontakis, and Jim and Nick Koikos.
The business was purchased in early 1999 by Darryl Borden, a managing partner of Bombay Cafe and The Canteen. After six weeks of renovations, he reopened it as Veranda on Highland.
