Michael Rooker

Michael Rooker (born April 6, 1955 in Jasper) is an actor, best known for his debut in the title role in "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" (1986) and his recurring role as "Merle Dixon" in the AMC television series "The Walking Dead".

Rooker grew up in Jasper with eight brothers and sisters. When their parents divorced in the late 1960s, he moved with his mother to Chicago, Illinois and studied at the Goodman School of Drama and DePaul University.

He landed the starring role in "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer", which was based on the confessions of real-life murderer Henry Lee Lucas. He has since had numerous large roles in horror films and smaller parts in mainstream dramas. He has also had guest roles on television, including a recurring role in "The Walking Dead" and provided voice characterizations to various video games.
