Mike Hardin

J. Michael Hardin (born in Mobile) is Provost of Samford University and former dean of the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama.

Hardin earned his bachelor's degree at the University of West Florida and a master's in statistics and research design at Florida State University. He went on to complete a master's in mathematics and doctorate in applied statistics at the University of Alabama and a master's in divinity from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Hardin began teaching at Mississippi State University in 1986. From 1988 to 2001 he taught statistics at UAB, then moved to Alabama where he was appointed dean of the business school in 2011. He returned to Birmingham as Samford's Provost in 2015.

Hardin and his wife, Anna Kathryn, have two children, David and Anna Elizabeth.
