Montebrier

Montebrier is a residence built in 1853 for S. W. Mahan on Mahan Creek just north of Brierfield in Bibb County (now off Alabama State Highway 139). The 1 1/2-story Gothic Revival cottage is notable for its porch detailing and wide eaves, characteristic of the style popularized in Andrew Jackson Downing's 1859 book The Architecture of Country Houses.

The house, which remains in the Mahan family, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 2, 1973.
