Montez Billings

Montez LaMonds Billings (born June 15, 1986 in Pelham) is a former wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.

Billings, the son of David and Demetria Billings, starred at Pelham High School where he played football and basketball and ran track, earning a state championship in the 200-meter dash. He signed with the Auburn Tigers football team and redshirted the 2005 season. In 2006 he saw limited action, mostly on special teams, catching three passes in games against Buffalo and Arkansas State.

Billings' break out year at Auburn came in 2007 when he came back from a hamstring injury in fall camp to haul in 28 catches for 321 yards and a touchdown. His best game was against LSU, when he scored on a 17-yard Brandon Cox pass on the first drive and finished with six catches for 78 yards. He followed up with 24 catches for 277 yards in 2008, and served a four-game suspension for academic reasons.

Billings was left undrafted in the 2009 NFL draft. He tried out with the New Orleans Saints in Fall 2010 and earned a spot on their roster for the beginning of the season. Later the same year he was picked up as a free agent by the Buffalo Bills for their practice squad, but was released later the same month.
