Nena Biddle

Elizabeth (Nena) Berry Biddle, (born April 5, 1930 in Birmingham; died February 15, 2022 in Gardendale), was the wife of former Alabama State Senator and Representative, Jack Biddle.

She was an elementary school teacher and taught at North Birmingham Elementary School and Arthur Elementary School.

Biddle served on the Board of Directors of the Jefferson Blount St. Clair (JBS) Mental Health Authority for 28 years. She was appointed by Governor Don Siegelman and later by Governor Bob Riley to serve on the Board of Trustees for the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health. The Alabama Department of Mental Health honored Nena and Jack Biddle’s tireless work by naming the 1920 Club building located at 1920 10th Avenue South The Jack and Nena Biddle Building.

Nena and her husband Jack were lifelong members of Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. She and Jack had two children, John and Carolyn.
