Over the Mountain Journal

The Over the Mountain Journal is a bi-weekly newspaper distributed free to residents of Birmingham's "Over the Mountain" suburbs of Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Hoover and northern Shelby County. The publisher is Maury Wald.

The paper publishes feature stories as well as regular columns covering local events and social gatherings, sports, school news and announcements. Susan Murphy is a regular columnist.

In April 2010, Wald laid off editor Cara Clark and features writer Lucy Merrill, who had been with the publication for 17 and 14 years, respectively. Laura McAlister was brought in as the new editor.
