Parkwood Cemetery (formerly Jacobs Cemetery) is a 1-acre historic cemetery which served the Parkwood community in Shades Creek from the 1870s to the 1930s.

George Jacobs deeded part of his property for use by the Methodist Episcopal Church on August 6, 1873. A church and schoolhouse occupied the land, served by a small cemetery plot. The first recorded burial took place in January 1876. On April 20, 1896 the deed was transferred to a group representing the community's Baptist Association. That congregation dwindled and the last burial at the cemetery occurred in March 1935.

On August 11, 1941 the cemetery's burial register was transferred to J. W. Logle. Robert Curren acquired the cemetery property in 1978.

After the closure of Vulcan Materials' Parkwood Quarry, the area was reclaimed and developed by Charles Givianpour into the Lake Cyrus residential subdivision. The cemetery is currently accessible from a small unmarked road off of Lake Cyrus Boulevard.

On September 11, 2003 the Parkwood Cemetery was listed on the Alabama Historical Cemetery Register.
