Massey Cemetery

Massey Cemetery (also called Pioneer Massey Cemetery or Massey Historic Cemetery) is a historic cemetery located off Advent Circle near I-59 east of Trussville and west of Argo. It is the final resting place of pioneer Samuel Massey who settled in the area in December 1819. Massey died in May 1829. The cemetery was used by members of his household and other neighboring families and largely abandoned around 1932, though some graves date to the early 1950s. There are 71 graves, 40 of which are marked.

Currently the cemetery is fenced and well-maintained. The cemetery was surveyed by Earle Massey for the Birmingham Genealogical Society. A historical marker was erected at the site by the Alabama Historical Association in 2004.
