Retreat at Greystone
The Retreat at Greystone is a 312-unit apartment community on 35 acres off of Cahaba Valley Road near Lake Purdy.
Development of the project was begun in 2012 by Ingram Tynes' Tynes Development Corporation and the first units became available in late 2013. In 2014 as the initial 240 units were completed, Tynes discussed plans to expand the complex to 292 units, with the possibility of seeking a zoning variance to add 26 more.
The design of the gated complex is based on a "big house" appearance in which each 12-unit building is made to look like a large house. A clubhouse building includes a 24-hour fitness center, business center, coffee bar and outdoor salt-water pool.
The complex was purchased by Preferred Apartment Communities of Maryland in 2017.
