Robert Council Jr
Robert Earl Council Jr (born 1974), also known as Kinetic Justice Amun, is a convicted murderer and a leader of the Free Alabama Movement, which has organized nationwide inmate strikes to bring attention to injustices in the prison system.
Council is the son of Earnestine Council of Enterprise.
Council was convicted on capital murder for the July 17, 1994 homicide of Ronald Talmadge Henderson in Enterprise, Coffee County. According to evidence at trial, the shooting took place during a dispute over the sale of an SKS assault rifle. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Council began serving his sentence at the Holman Correctional Facility in Escambia County, where he was first exposed to black liberation doctrines and became active in several prison groups promoting education, self-help and political liberation. Council and others who have spoken out about prison conditions and organized labor strikes and hunger strikes among incarcerated persons have been punished with solitary confinement and other means by corrections officers.
Council was transferred to St Clair Correctional Facility in St Clair County in 2007, and then back to Holman in 2013, where he and Melvin Ray founded the Free Alabama Movement. He has since spent time at Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery County and Limestone Correctional Facility in Limestone County. Council is presently serving his sentence at the Donaldson Correctional Facility in western Jefferson County.
