Robin Rains
Robin Rains (born c. 1986 in Birmingham) is a math teacher at Jackson-Olin High School and chair of the Birmingham chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America
Rains graduated from Oak Mountain High School and earned a bachelor's degree in film at the University of Alabama in 2009. She covered the Tuscaloosa City Council for the Crimson & White and got a job after school as a 911 dispatcher and emergency medical technician.
Rains worked on the "Tuscaloosa Monorail" television program as a producer and director. She also became active in politics as a member of Occupy Tuscaloosa and later with the Democratic Socialists in Birmingham.
In the 2017 Birmingham municipal election Rains, who lives in Woodlawn, filed as a candidate for Birmingham City Council District 4, but dropped out before the election.
