School of Skills and Trades

The School of Skills and Trades is a free vocational school founded in 2009 by plumber Paul Mitchell and others. It currently offers night classes in plumbing, electrical and concrete work taught by volunteer instructors at a facility on Lomb Avenue in West End. Most of the students are referred for community service through the Birmingham Municipal Court alternative sentencing program.
