Sins of the Father

Sins of the Father is 2002 television movie about Tom Cherry's testimony that helped convict his father, Bobby Frank Cherry, for the murders of four girls in the bombing of 16th Street Baptist Church.

Robert Dornhelm directed the movie, which was filmed in Toronto, Canada and aired on the USA Network on January 6, 2002. The younger Cherry was played by Tom Sizemore, and his father by Richard Jenkins. The four victims of the bombing were played by Jessica Gray Charles (Denise McNair), Funmiola Lawson (Cynthia Wesley), Aaryn Doyle (Carole Robertson), and Isys McKoy (Mae Collins).

John Pielmeier was nominated for a Writers Guild of American, USA award in 2003 for his script, which was based on a Texas Monthly article by Pamela Coloff. Jackie Richardson and Ving Rhames were nominated for Image Awards for their roles as Mama Jones and Garrick Jones.
