Spotlight on Israel and Jordan was the theme of the 2008 Birmingham Festival of Arts. The program's purpose was to highlight the achievements of the Israeli and Jordanian people at home, and as immigrants to the United States. The event also celebrated Birmingham's sister city pacts with the Israeli city of Rosh-Ha’ayin and the Jordanian city of Al-Karak, signed in November 2005.

- February 11 - 15: In-school performances by Israeli musician Yair Dalal
- February 18 - 22: In-school performances by Israeli musician Adam Del Monte
- February 25 - 29: In-school performances by Jordanian musician Naser Musa with Lebanese-born percussionist Souhail Kaspar
- February - April: In-school mini-festivals (sponsored by $350.00 competitive grants from the BIC)
- April: Student art exhibit
- April 17: Women's Committee of 100 luncheon with guest musicians
- April 29: UAB Gospel Choir and Israeli Choir joint concert at Samford's Wright Center.
- May 10: Bridging the Peace: The Sounds of Israel and Jordan in Perfect Harmony concert by the Intercultural Journeys Ensemble
- May 14: "From Tolerance to Cooperation: A Path to the Future Symposium" with Israeli Ambassador to Canada Alan Baker, Middle East Institute scholar Paul Scham, Jordanian Heritage and Tourism official Akel Biltaji, Volcani Center representative Ron Porat, Samford University president Andrew Westmoreland and Birmingham-Southern College professor Natalie Davis.
