Previous train

Does anyone know what the zoo's previous train, in the early-to-mid '70s was named? I recall it starting from the same place as the current one, but the route was very different, going out to the far side of the parking lot. (Where the Zoo Lodge is now?) I also seem to remember a tunnel. And I think they actually alternated between two trains back then as well. I suppose I'll have to dig through my familiy's old photos one day, assuming I can find them. --Lkseitz 19:44, 5 July 2007 (PDT)

  • You know, I know it had a name, just don't recall it. Yes, the route is different now, but I don't think it was a tunnel, but rather a steep, canyon-ish part, which felt like a tunnel.--fats 20:55, 23 July 2007 (PDT)

    • Yeah, the trains in the second link are the ones I remember. And when I talk about a change in the train route, I don't mean the most recent one that simply moved it out from between the social animals and pachyderms exhibits to the far edge, beyond the pachyderm exhibit. (That one did feature a deep cut.) This was a much different route than the current one except for the starting point, but I was too young at the time to remember the details any more. (And note the "Beware of the tunnel" in the first.) --Lkseitz 09:55, 25 July 2007 (PDT)

power

Hannah Wolfson's article about the new Red Diamond Express says that it, like its predecessor, will be fueled by propane. Our article said the current one was electric. I'm going with the reference until corrected. --Dystopos 19:54, 20 May 2008 (PDT)
