Talk:Broadway BBQ

Notes

As you can see from the photo, apparently even the owner(s) couldn't decide on the exact name ("Broadways Old-Fashioned Bar-B-Q" vs. "Broadways Old-Fashion Bar-B-Q"). The lack of an apostrophe before the "S" also annoys the grammar Nazi in me. It appears simply as "Broadway BBQ" (no "S") in what few news items I could find, so that's what I went with for the article title. I don't know if Mr. Peeples was the founder of the restaurant or not, as his obit didn't say. (If so, that would put its opening c. 1994.) The restaurant survived his passing, because it was one of the choices for "best ribs" in a Birmingham News poll in 2008. It closed either that year or 2009, because it was May 2009 when Saw's BBQ opened in the same building. --Lkseitz 09:05, 11 December 2012 (PST)

  • Based solely on my interpretation of Bob Carlton's June 12, 2009 article on Saw's, it sounds like Broadway closed in Spring 2009. Article link --Wheresdib 11:05, 11 December 2012 (PST)
    • Ah, yes, it does say "Broadway BBQ" was for sale, not just the building, doesn't it? Thanks, I missed that. --Lkseitz 12:16, 11 December 2012 (PST)
