1906-07 topographic maps show Oxmoor Rd/Hollywood Blvd/Montevallo Rd. It was the main road following Shades Valley at the time. Unfortunately, these maps do not show the road's name. --Lkseitz 10:17, 25 September 2006 (PDT)

Boulevard vs Blvd

In a comment, Wheresdib said, "I don't think we need to spell out in this article that Blvd is an abbreviation for Boulevard." I just thought I'd explain I put it there so it would show up in searches, as that's what people are more likely to search for. I've since taken care of it with a redirect. And I also note now that using the abbreviation in the Locate_street template makes it show up in a search as well. --Lkseitz 19:06, 9 April 2008 (PDT)

  • Using a redirect helps in the search box, but I just thought it was unnecessary in the article itself. Do we really need to tell people what the abbreviations for Boulevard, Parkway, Avenue or Court are? Not on BhamWiki, at least not in my opinion. --Wheresdib 20:42, 9 April 2008 (PDT)
  • I agree now. But at the time I put it in the article, I hadn't thought of the redirect. And I figured "Boulevard" is probably the hardest of the common street names for most people to spell. Although I'd also point out that while the redirect works fine if you click "Go," it does no good if you click "Search." (But once again, Locate_street template to the rescue.) Really, I'm not arguing with you, just explaining why I did it at that time. As you probably noticed, I went and removed it from the other boulevards I'd added it to as well. --Lkseitz 05:49, 10 April 2008 (PDT)
