  • Not sure what to make of this. --Dystopos 20:02, 1 March 2012 (PST)
    • I have no clue what that part of town looked like before the construction of I-65. Could it possibly be a typo? --Lkseitz 21:14, 1 March 2012 (PST)
      • I have to think it might be, but in their own artwork? --Dystopos 07:48, 2 March 2012 (PST)
        • Okay, I looked at the historical maps and there are three factors. First, I-65 made little difference in the area because the railroad tracks already cut off 18th Avenue South at 2nd Street. Second, the 1970 map already shows portions of I-65 already existing (or at least planned), so I-65 would have been a factor by 1972 anyway. And third and most important, a stub of 4th Street is way over in Ward Park, so I don't think 18th Avenue South has ever had a 400 block. It's got to be a typo. (The restaurant would have hired someone to produce the ad, so there was probably a breakdown in communication somewhere that crept by.) And since there doesn't appear to have ever been a 400 block of 18th Avenue North, either (Village Creek is roughly where that would be), surely they meant 18th Street South. Or I suppose they might have seriously gotten it messed up and meant 18th Street North? I don't believe I've mentioned lately that I'd really like to see the Birmingham city directories digitized. :-) --Lkseitz 09:50, 2 March 2012 (PST)
          • I got an email about the error, so I think, after 9 years, I might go ahead and acknowledge the likelihood in the entry. --Dystopos (talk) 06:24, 7 January 2021 (PST)
            • I believe "I told you so" is appropriate here. :-) --Lkseitz (talk) 06:40, 8 January 2021 (PST)
