Intent

OK, I'm in over my head here. What I'm thinking of is a box similar to the succession box which links, in the center, to the street (indicating which side, NESW) and block with space to indicate the address (and perhaps the lot #?). Then the flanking boxes would indicate the direction to the neighboring address (or intersecting street with links to the next block) with an appropriate link. It gets more complicated the more I think of it, but the main point is to be able to "navigate" a street by clicking through the boxes. And maybe someday we could consider a "block box" with cells for all the addresses on a block and links to the adjoining ones. Hmmm.... --Dystopos 13:35, 5 January 2010 (PST)

  • PS, this would be most appropriate in downtown(s) I think, but perhaps adaptable to strip shopping centers and the like. --Dystopos 13:36, 5 January 2010 (PST)
    • How's this for a start. I had grandiose plans, but they apparently will require the ParserFunctions extension. --Lkseitz 15:54, 5 January 2010 (PST)
      • I'll talk to my guru about getting some extensions installed. I'll probably have to sit down with him sometime. Are there others you think we need to have? --Dystopos 16:19, 5 January 2010 (PST)
        • I honestly don't know much about extensions, other than those I've encountered on Wikipedia. And then it's hard to tell what's an extension and what isn't until I try to use it here. That said, the following look helpful: Cite, NewUserMessage, CustomCategory (would let you display a category's articles by their sort keys; don't know if you're still interested in doing that or not), and Google Maps. And these look interesting: ImageMap, NiceCategoryList2, RegexTools (I'm probably the only one that might possibly use it), EasyTimeline. I only got half way through the list of stable extensions before I gave up. --Lkseitz 18:58, 5 January 2010 (PST)
