The Southside Rag was an alternative newspaper published in Birmingham in 1970. The Southside Rag Co., known informally as "the people on the Rag", kept offices at 1408 9th Avenue South (now absorbed into the UAB Campus Green.) Yana Davis was one of the founders.

The first mimeographed issue was sold during a free concert at Avondale Park on July 19, 1970. According to a letter published in The Great Speckled Bird, "several really heavy things [depended] on the success of The Rag," including "the fate of a drug rehabilitation commune and... the success of several new freak-operated community shops selling locally produced stuff."

The September 21 issue, with a cover designed by Ronnie Seitel, was distributed for free.
