The Sword

The Sword is a local online news magazine founded in May 2010 by former Birmingham News staffer Marie Sutton. She originally launched it as a print publication in 2003, but did not last for long in that form.

The Sword focuses on Christian viewpoints and news stories. The name is drawn from Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword." Sutton was inspired to create the site in order to "tell the testimonies of local Believers and also expose the tricks of the enemy in his plot to destroy our community".
