Things You Ought to Know About Birmingham
Things You Ought to Know About Birmingham was a feature-length documentary silent film jointly produced in 1925 by Imperial Film Company and the Trianon Theater highlighting scenes and personalities from Birmingham.
According to a Birmingham News announcement, the film included a bird's eye view of the downtown business district, slow-motion scenes of downtown, and shots of public buildings, industrial plants and churches, along with several views of residential streets. Specific businesses appearing in the film included the News, the Birmingham Electric Company, steelmaking plants, and the Birmingham Real Estate Board. Members of the Birmingham City Commission were shown along with the president, faculty and student body of Howard College. Slugger Babe Ruth also made an appearance during a visit to Rickwood Field.
Also shown were members of the Rotary Club of Birmingham, the Exchange Club of Birmingham, the Axis Club, the Shrine Club, and the Civitan Club.
