Tori Wolfe-Sisson

Tori Wolfe-Sisson (born c. 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is the founder of BLK Pearl, an organization for LGBTQ people of color. They1 are also an yoga instructor, and a former field organizer for the Human Rights Campaign and youth organizer for the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice.

Sisson was born as the daughter of Lonnie Sisson and Darlene Marie Carter of Las Vegas, Nevada. They attended the Advanced Technologies Academy (A-TECH) magnet high school with a concentration in computer graphics and architecture, and later graduated from Poteet High School in Mesquite, Texas. They then attended Tuskegee University where they co-founded the Black Belt Deliberative Dialogue Group and Be Environmentally Active Now community organizations, and worked as a campaign manager for Student Government and Tuskegee City Council candidates. They graduated with a bachelor's degree in history in 2013. After graduating, Sisson worked as lead residential instructor at the Learning Tree Child Care Center in Tallassee.

On February 9, 2015 Tori and Shanté Wolfe were the first same-sex couple to be legally married in Alabama, appearing at the Montgomery County courthouse immediately following a federal court ruling that required the state to recognize such marriages. Their legal ceremony followed a year after their spiritual wedding.

Wolfe-Sisson co-founded BLK Pearl in 2017. In February 2019 they completed Birmingham Yoga's 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) program and was formerly affiliated with Yoga Unbound. They were one of the activists who founded the Birmingham Committee for Truth and Reconciliation to host an event that same month for Angela Davis at Boutwell Auditorium.
