Veranda is a bi-monthly lifestyle magazine with a focus on home design and decor. Its editorial offices are located in the Martin Biscuit Building at Birmingham's Pepper Place.

The title was founded as a regional quarterly in 1987 by Southern Accents co-founder Lisa Newsom and former Architectural Digest art director Charles Ross, with offices in Atlanta, Georgia headed by publisher Sims Bray Jr. The title's scope expanded to national coverage as it increased to six issues per year by 1999. In May 2002 the Hearst Corporation of New York City acquired the magazine for its "Hearst Design Group", which also includes Elle Décor and 'House Beautiful. The new owners kept the title's offices in Atlanta, with Bray as publisher and Newsom as editor-in-chief.

After Newsom left, Dara Caponigro was brought on in April 2010 as editor and Jennifer Levene-Bruno succeeded Bray as publisher. Caponigro expanded the title's luxury travel content as the magazine increased its international sales.

The company brought production of Veranda to its Manhattan offices in Hearst Tower with the appointment of Clinton Smith as editor in 2013. After he left in 2018 amidst a downsizing of the Hearst Design Group, Steele Marcoux was tapped to lead the magazine's staff from the company's editorial offices in Birmingham.

In 2020 Veranda had a reported circulation of 464,357.

In March 2023 Hearst Magazines staff members represented by the Writers Guild of America staged a walkout to protest the company's unwillingness to negotiate a new employment contract.
