WAYE-AM (AM 1220, La Jefa) is a 1,000-watt Regional Mexican-format radio station. It is operated by Rivera Communications (owned by Dulce and Maria Rivera) and airs programming from the Westwood One network.

The station was assigned the WAYE call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on October 16, 1984, and operated as Way 1220 AM with traditional gospel from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM, then Christian talk radio from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, and Contemporary Christian music in the evenings. Local hosts included Theo Bailey, Keith Daniels, Steve Green, James Freeman, Nancy Laster, Greg Romans and Glen Tapley.

The station was acquired by Willis Broadcasting in 1987, and the format was changed over to black gospel. The station stopped broadcasting in July 2010, but resumed early in 2012. It adopted its present Regional Mexican format in August 2013.

WAYE's broadcast transmitter is located near the intersection of Mims Avenue Southwest and 14th Street Southwest in Birmingham's Woodland Park neighborhood. La Jefa's programming is translated at WQCR AM 1500 and W252BE FM 98.3.
