William Thuss Jr

William Getz Thuss Jr (born November 18, 1924 in Birmingham; died October 5, 1979 in Birmingham) was an occupational physician and co-owner of the Thuss Clinic for Industrial Medicine and Surgery.

Thuss was the son of William Thuss Sr and the former Sara Louise Benedict. He earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland in 1947 and a doctor of science in industrial medicine at the University of Cincinnati in 1956, having completed a fellowship at the Kettering Laboratory. He joined the faculty of the University of Alabama School of Medicine and the medical staff of Birmingham's University Hospital that year. He served as a clinical associate professor of occupational health in the departments of Public Health and Epidemiology.

In addition to his membership in the American Medical Association, Thuss was a member of the American Occupational Medical Association, the American College of Preventive Medicine, the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine, the American Association for Advancement of Science, the New York Academy of Science, , the Pan American Health Association, and the American Public Health Association. He was recognized as a fellow of the Royal Society of Health.

Thuss died in October 1979 and is buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
