1985 ad for Wuxtry

Wuxtry was an independent record store and novelty shop owned by Chuck Connolly, who moved to Birmingham from Athens, Georgia. It was named after, but not associated with the Wuxtry Records chain operating in Georgia. The store opened on October 1, 1985 in downtown Birmingham at 1920 4th Avenue North. Karnival Season and The Primitons played at the opening.

Connolly later moved to 3156 Cahaba Heights Village, and sold comics and toys and collectibles in addition to new and used records and CDs. He closed the store not long afterward and moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where he operated 7th Street Records.
