Daroneshia D. Duncan-Boyd (born 1983 in Birmingham) is the executive director of Transgender Advocate Knowledgeable and Empowering (TAKE), which she founded as a peer-support group in 2013, and the first executive director of the Washington D.C.-based advocacy group Trans United.
Duncan-Boyd grew up in Norwood and later in an apartment in the Loveman Village public housing community in North Titusville. Still identifying as male, she graduated from Parker High School in 2001 before beginning her transition with mail-order hormones. She attended Lawson State Community College and Virginia College, but never completed a degree. She became involved in drag performance and sex work and lived on the streets. As she found a more secure footing, including a stable marriage, she launched TAKE to support others.
Duncan-Boyd was crowned Ms Central Alabama Pride in 2023.
