The Banc Corporation is the former name of Superior Bancorp. Founded in 1997 by John A. Taylor and a group of investors, it was the parent company of The Bank. The name was changed in May 2006 to reflect the direction of the new management team, which had already changed the name of its main subsidiary to Superior Bank.
