Cobb has an associate's degree in education from the [[Alabama Lutheran Academy]]. She is a former banker and has served as PTA president and as a volunteer tutor at [[Woodlawn High School]].

Cobb lost her third term re-election bid in the [[2009 Birmingham City Council election|2009 election]] to [[Edward Maddox]] after a runoff.
