Scribner attended high school at St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, where he was an avid fundraiser and budding ecologist.  He spent summers fishing on the Tennessee River with his cousin from Lookout Mountain.  In [[2003]], Scribner took a summer internship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr at Hudson Riverkeeper in New York, after reading ''The Riverkeeper'', co-authored by Kennedy.  Scribner later volunteered with Waterkeeper Alliance, Hudson Riverkeeper and Black Warrior Riverkeeper until June [[2005]].  Scribner graduated with a history degree from Princeton in 2005, and received an Environmental Studies Certificate from Princeton Environmental Institute.  In his position at Black Warrior Riverkeeper, Scribner raises funds to support the organization and organizes events and newsletters for public outreach.

Scribner and his wife [[Elizabeth Scribner|Elizabeth]] serve Alabama's [[Episcopal Diocese of Alabama|Episcopal Diocese]] as volunteer leaders on its Task Force for the Stewardship of Creation.
