Southsider was a free monthly alternative community newspaper published in the 1980s and 90s by Jay Craig, primarily for the Southside community. Regular contributors included J. R. Taylor, Gerrald Bartholomew, Tim Brown, Johnny Davis, Sanford Hardy, Bill Nailen, Mark Reynolds and Bill Ricker.

The first issue of Southsider came out in 1980 and was Craig's full-time project until he was hired as a city planner for the City of Birmingham in 1986. After that, it was published at irregular intervals until adding new staffers in 1991.
