Hello and welcome to Bhamwiki. We're really excited to see your contributions. If you haven't already, please read our User agreement and then feel free to dive in. Feel free to e-mail me or leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. --Dystopos 09:10, 18 May 2006 (PDT)

  • Great new articles blossoming! With the addition of the Windham Building to the list, I believe BhamWiki now has the most comprehensive catalog of Wallace Rayfield's works anywhere. Excellent!
Just to make sure you are fully aware, any photographs uploaded to BhamWiki need to be released under the Creative Commons Atrribution ShareAlike 2.5 license (See Bhamwiki:Copyrights). I noticed that the Windham Building photo contains a copyright notice. It's fine to leave that there as a precaution as long as you understand that any user finding the image on BhamWiki will be able to re-use it under the terms of the Creative Commons license. If this is not your intent, the images should be removed to protect your rights. --Dystopos 17:13, 11 July 2006 (PDT)

Thanks John. Any images I upload here are my own and I have no issue with others using, I am just glad to help illustrate the hometown!

I am about to dive into more of the major roads and add articles to as many as I can, but I would like to ask if instead of using simply I-59 or Highway 11 that we should use Interstate 59 or U.S. Highway 11 for the main article pages. I do not know how much of an issue this will, so just let me know what you think - Chris

  • I haven't thought the issue through completely. My first thought was to keep the names as simple as possible, but now that I think about it there's probably no way around using the full names. I encourage you to proceed with whatever seems most appropriate to you and we'll redirect and disambiguate as required. I'd love to see a clear guide on BhamWiki to the distinctions between US 31, Red Mtn Expressway, Elton B. Stephens Expressway, Carraway Boulevard, Montgomery Highway, Bee Line Highway, etc etc. Ultimately those will all probably have their own articles, but maybe only categories for US31, US280 and the surface street parts of Old Montgomery Highway and Carraway Boulevard. --Dystopos 15:32, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
  • For what it's worth, I agree with Chris. (Hi, nice to "meet" you.) Although I've created articles using the short names, I only did so because I was following the examples of previously created articles. I would prefer full names be used. Where there are shorter names, redirect pages can easily be created. The multiple names of U.S. 31 are a whole other issue and I've sadly helped make it the mess that it is. --Lkseitz 07:19, 17 August 2006 (PDT)
    • Full names is fine with me, as long as we've got redirects and some description of what area of the highway each name refers to. --Dystopos 08:13, 17 August 2006 (PDT)

1974 Social Security building

I didn't see this one on Emporis. Did I just overlook it? --Dystopos 06:42, 17 August 2006 (PDT)

  • I do have it listed here. I have it listed as 12 floors from the southern elevation. It needs a paint job -- Patriarca12
    • It's about to need a buyer or a wrecking ball. --Dystopos 08:11, 17 August 2006 (PDT)

BhamWiki Meet-up?

To all interested...

What does everyone think about maybe trying to have a get together on the day after Thanksgiving? If any of y'all are in town and available, it would be nice to meet some of y'all in person and explore our fair city. I leave this open for discussion... --Patriarca12 07:42, 31 October 2006 (PST)

  • I'll be in Lower Alabama that day... probably driving back Sunday after church. --Dystopos 07:48, 31 October 2006 (PST)

Hey, don't know if you remember me, but I was the one that supplied the picture of Decatur for Emporis. Nice to see a fellow Knoxville born on the site. AlabamaGuy2007 20:15, 1 November 2006 (PST)

Thanks for doing the gruntwork on those municipality articles. Its so much easier to flesh out a good foundation than to start from scratch. --Dystopos 12:21, 30 April 2007 (PDT)
