The Robert Jemison Sr residence in 1983

The 1902 Robert Jemison Sr residence is a two-story, 8,096 square-foot Neoclassical revival-style mansion built in 1902 for real estate developer Robert Jemison Sr and his wife, Eugenie in his Glen Iris Park subdivision in Birmingham's Southside.

Jemison combined lots 12 through 18 for his monumental residence, sitting well above the circle and skirted with broad verandas. The brick and stone house was designed by architect Thomas Walter III. It features a pedimented front gable supported on four fluted columns with Ionic capitals protruding from a full-width, double-height porch with two additional columns on the corners and a deep cornice above. A carriage house and stables were built behind the house, along with flower and vegetable gardens. A grove of trees was preserved in the front yard.

The house has been owned by Ryall Morgan, plastic surgeon Gaylon McCollough. It was used as the 1979 Decorators' ShowHouse.

In 1980 the house was bought by Freedom Court Reporting owners Michael and Mickey Turner for $209,000. It is presently owned by their daughter, attorney Starr Turner Drum.
