The 2000 Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival was the 2nd of what became an annual series of film festivals in downtown Birmingham. The event moved from spring to fall, and was held over the course of three days, October 68, on the 1800 block of 3rd Avenue North. Weekend passes were sold in advance for $15, and day passes were offered at the gate for $10.

In conjunction with the festival, the McWane Center's IMAX Dome theater screened "The Old Man and the Sea" ("Старик и море"), an Oscar-winning large-format animated short directed by Aleksandr Petrov.
