The 2022 Birmingham Legion FC season was the 4th campaign for Birmingham Legion FC, representing Birmingham in the Eastern Conference of the United Soccer League's USL Championship division in 2022. For the first year, the club's matches were played at the 45,000-seat Protective Stadium at the BJCC.

Tom Soehn returned for a 4th year as head coach of Birmingham Legion FC.

The team kicked off the 2022 season with a friendly against Atlanta United FC on February 20. The regular season began with a home match versus the USL Cup runners-up Tampa Bay Rowdies on Sunday March 13.

With a 17-7-10 regular season record, "Three Sparks" finished fourth in the conference and hosted 5th ranked Pittsburgh Riverhounds in a quarterfinal round of the championship. That game ended in a draw, but Pittsburgh advanced on penalty kicks.

  • Eastern Conference Quarterfinals: October 23: Pittsburgh Riverhounds 2 (8) - Legion FC 2 (7); The match, played before a crowd of 10,227 at Protective Stadium, ended in a draw, but Pittsburgh advanced by an 8-7 penalty kick advantage.
