85th Street Baptist Church

85th Street Baptist Church was a Southern Baptist church in South East Lake located on the northwest corner of 5th Avenue North and 85th Street North. It was founded in April 1929 and by 1938 and a membership of 431 and a Sunday school enrollment of 300. After a modern Romanesque revival sanctuary was designed by Walter Meeks, architect, it was dedicated in 1952. Lawrence Whitten developed a campus plan of other buildings and an education building he designed was added to the sanctuary in 1957.
