Church after April 2011 tornado.

Alberta Baptist Church is a large Baptist church, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, located at 2210 University Boulevard in the Alberta City neighborhood of Tuscaloosa. Established in 1922 with the present structure completed in 1950 and most recently renovated in 2010, the current pastor of the congregation is Larry Corder. The church suffered extensive damage during the 2011 tornado outbreak.

The church was originally founded in 1922 with services held in a small, wood-framed structure. The congregation would continue to grow with several annexes added to the original structure before construction commenced on the present structure in 1948. With construction being supervised by K.T. Tucker, in August 1949 construction temporarily halted. Construction subsequently restarted and it was completed at a final cost of approximately $100,000 in utilizing over 2,500 hours of volunteer assistance for its construction. The sanctuary was formally dedicated with its initial worship service on June 25, 1950.

On April 27, 2011, the church suffered extensive damage as part of the major tornado that passed though Tuscaloosa that evening. Taking nearly a direct hit, the church lost its roof and steeple, had several walls knocked down with many of those standing having formed major cracks. Although rededicated in August 2010 following a $1.8 million renovation, the damage left by the storm will likely result in a total demolition of the existing structure and construction of a replacement facility. In spite of the damage, a service was held adjacent to the damaged structure on May 1.
