Angelo Sarris

Angelo N. Sarris (born October 23, 1953 in Piraeus, Greece; died December 25, 2017 in Birmingham) was the owner of Sarris Restaurant in downtown Birmingham.

Angelo was the youngest son of Nick Sarris, a cook in the Greek Navy who was hired as personal chef to King Paul of Greece. The family immigrated to the United States in 1966. Sarris graduated from Jess Lanier High School and spent two years working at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton, Florida. After he returned to Birmingham, he worked with his older brother, George Sarris and his uncle at Sarris Restaurant on 31st Street North. He became the owner of the restaurant in 1989 and continued to operate it along with his wife until his death.

Sarris was married to Ruth Sarris and he had two stepsons, Craig and Kelly.
