Avadian Credit Union
Avadian Credit Union is a member-owned credit union with more than 90,000 members. Its headquarters offices are located at 1 Riverchase Parkway in Hoover.
Avadian was founded in 1934 as the Alabama Telco Credit Union for employees of Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph Co.. At its founding it had 7 charter members and deposits totaling $70.
The credit union expanded its membership and adopted its current name and branding in 2015. In February 2018 it acquired the EBSCO Federal Credit Union.
In 2022 Avadian acquired Citizens State Bank of Vernon, Lamar County. That same year it introduced the Avadian Foundation, which makes charitable donations in support of affordable housing, financial health, small business development and education.
In 2023 the credit union reported $1.31 billion in assets under management, ranking it third in Birmingham Business Journal's List of credit unions.
