Ben Cook

Ben Cook Jr (born c. 1946; died July 10, 2015 in Birmingham was a sportswriter, radio host and author.

Cook graduated from West End High School in 1964 and took a job in the sports department at the Birmingham News before moving to the Birmingham Post-Herald in the 1970s. He also wrote for Lindy's sports magazines and for Al O'Brien's The Sports Page.

Cook co-hosted the WJOX-AM baseball show "Triple Play" as well as an afternoon sports talk show. He also worked as a public address announcer at Rickwood Field. He was inducted into the Birmingham Barons Hall of Fame in 2013.

Cook died in 2015. He was survived by his wife, Cathie; two stepdaughters, and two grandchildren.
